Perfection

The little one found these - none of us "big ones" saw them until she started asking "what are those" over and over again.

And All Things Nice.

The smallest model.

This is a test knit I made and considered selling - but decided I much rather wanted to save it for my little darling. I'm glad I did - she is growing up so fast and it fits much sooner than I thought.

I didn't knit very much this weekend, but I did manage a little sewing. I made two more versions of the birthday skirt.
One for my lovely stepdaughter and one for her little daughter. We did not manage a modelled photo before they left after an extended weekends visit- but here are the skirts drying on my outside line.

Ripped

The pattern is not finished, It is a work in progress, and I ripped out a large part of it last night. I was not happy with the placement of the large flowers, so out they went. I was a bit nervous about ripping single plötulopi, but I had no trouble. I had to be careful sure enough, but I did only break one strand that was short anyway.

The printer is still on strike. My darling husband came home last night with a print out of the pattern sure enough but it was so small that it was hardly legible. The printer software had crammed it on one page, but the pattern is for the whole yoke remember - not just a part to repeat on account of the name you see. And it is in black and white...

Pretty

Beauty, originally uploaded by Harpa J.

Not knitting related -but very cute. I met this week old beauty last weekend. It´s an Icelandic hen.

I found a mistake in the chart this morning, but I think it finally done. I hope my husband can print it out at work today.

Printer trouble

I finally finished charting the yoke pattern. Getting in both the names - sixteen letters in all - with the decreases was great fun but not all together easy. Now it is ready to be printed out (and knit of course) and my printer chooses this moment to go bananas. It simply denies to recognise that the paper output tray is open (it is) and just lies there doing nothing. Bummer.

Alive

I'm still here - but I have been away on an extended weekend. I took a knitting project with me - not the cardigan, although I wanted too - I have not drawn up the yoke pattern yet. It's going to take some calculations and some tweaking to get the 16 letter name in correctly - but I look forward to it.

Instead took the current embroidery project with me, and I started the famous Monkey socks with yarn from my stash. No pictures today - but there will be soon...

Some progress

I’m finished with the body and one sleeve on the plötulopi cardigan for my daughter. I had planned to finish it for the 17th of June (the national day) but that is not going to happen. But than does not matter much, I enjoy making it – I think knitting with a single strand of plötulopi is my new favourite.

Street knitting

Small I know, but I like it anyway. It’s my first street knitting, made to mark the street where the kip day celebration is to be held next Sunday in my village.

Evening light

The light night here in Iceland make the summers a special time. Time is no longer a factor, children stay out late (at least in smaller villages and in the countryside) and life is good.

A sign of life

I'm still here - but I have been travelling without a computer in my beloved west fjords. I have been knitting a little - a cardigan from single ply plötulopi. I'm also embroidering a hat which is going to be totally covered in "rocks". Embroidered rocks that is.

From our day trip yesterday.
The weather was wonderful and we found this amazing place we had not visited before, just a short drive from our village. All in all, a great success.

Drying

It really doesn't look like much - and I'm kind of embarrassed that it took so long. But the shawl is nice and big and it does look pretty all stretched out like this.
In my defence I must say that the yarn was not easy to work with, it was really slippery with an annoying tendency to split.

Finished!

This unsightly heap is the finished shawl! Finally.
I'm going to block it now and later today or tomorrow you will see it properly.
