Winnie the Pooh

Here is the "evening costume".
My daughter wanted to be Winnie the Pooh so I made her a fleece suit with mittens and socks. I didn´t have a patterns handy, I just measured her and winged it - but she was very happy with the result.

The morning costume

The morning costume, originally uploaded by Harpa J.

Today is Öskudagur (literally Ash-day), traditionally the first day of the long fast before Easter. On this day Icelandic children dress up and visit shops and businesses (in some towns they knock on doors) and sing for candy.

In Vík the tradition among the older children at least is to wear a simple costume in the morning and a more elaborate one in the dance in the evening.

My daughter is dressed up as a Japanese schoolgirl - (here in Iceland we don´t have school uniforms), tonight she will be something entirely different...

Too little

I really don´t know what I was thinking when I bought the wool for the grey dress. I´m just done with the bust darts (I don´t really need them, but I wanted to try to make them and they do improve the fit) and I´m all out of yarn.
Hopefully the parcel with supplies arrives today. Since I was ordering anyway I ordered plötulopi for a hooded dress for my daughter and a black lopi sweater for my son.
I have to make a pattern for the hooded dress according to mey daughters instructions. She wants it white, short sleeved, with pink and purple hearts and some lime green too. I´m sure it´s going to be fabulous.

Knitting course

Today I went to a short knitting course. It was great fun although I was the only one in my part of the course. These ladies were learning the art of knitting two socks on on circular needle (Elín the teacher is on the right). I was learning how to knit "backwards", that is to knit from the left (instead of purling) and some other things.

Excel

I´m learning how to make charts for colour work using Excel. This excellent tutorial is my guide. It´s great fun and not difficult at all.

Some progress

I still have not drawn up the embroidery pattern for Hope. The pattern is all written up and ready, although I think I might have to knit it one more time, just to make sure everything is correct.

In the meantime I´m making a new pattern, called Lady Gray. It´s a lopi dress, gray of course, adorned with some lace but without colour work. I´m going to wear it with an colourful embroidered belt - the one I submitted to the magazine.

Hope

Here it is. I found out that is is OK to show it to you. How do you like it?

Its triangular, although you can´t see that in this picture. The embroidery is relatively simple because it´s going to be a pattern for others to follow so I didn´t want to make anything to complicated.

Hope

The Bowl is finally done and this is the name. Actually the real name is Von, so the name above is the English translation of the Icelandic name.

I ventured out in the cold and took a picture. It turned out rather good and I would love to show it to you. But the thing is -I´m not sure I can. As some of you know, the bowl is for an Italian magazine - web based I think - and I think they have to have first right to the picture.
But there is one consolidation : there is going to be a pattern for this bow, published right here - after the Italian thing of course. Now I cant promise exactly WHEN- but it will happen.
