Alive and frogging
I'm still alive - and still knitting the darned magazine thing. I just frogged several rows and I think I officially hate it. Severely dislike it, at the very least. But I WILL finished it the day after to morrow at the very latest. I want to do something different already!

Food
I'm still knitting the secret magazine thing - but how about a food picture instead? I made this yesterday. Not for my family, oh no - I very rarely make anything this fancy for them. No this was obligatory - all the parents had to make something for the yearly "árshátíð" in the kids school, a big do with play's and shows and a big coffee spread for everyone afterwards.

A new mountain
This photo is amazing - it's taken by a farmer who lives relatively close to the volcano.
The eruption
This picture shows steam and smoke from the eruption. It's taken yesterday, by my friend Þorgerður Einarsdóttir.
There are new pictures from the eruption here.
It's increasing slightly in strength this morning, but nothing major is happening just now.
Here is a video from this morning.

The Red cross evacuee center
Some scenes from the Red Cross evacuee center here in Vík.
In case of emergency (like now the volcano eruption) The Red cross volunteers (me included) open a center at a moments notice in the local school. There every evacuee is registered and assisted in finding accommodation for the night.
In Vík the womens association made breakfast, lunch etc. for everybody.

Volcano
Eyjafjallajökull is erupting you can read about it here (just scroll down a bit): http://www.ruv.is/frett/eldgos-fimmvorduhalsi
It's not far from where I live, but still far enough so there is not danger. I didn't even have to evacuate. It's a small eruption so, but the road is closed and the development is followed closely,

Flag
While I can't show what I'm knitting now - Helene Magnusson's British flag cardi is the coolest thing I have seen in a long time. Check it out!
p.s: The pattern is free, and it´s here.

Alive
I'm very much alive - although the posting frequency may suggest otherwise. I don't have any knitting to show you at the moment, since I'm working on a magazine project at the moment, and they are not overly fond of exposure before the actual publishing. In the mean time I would like to show you this very happy photo I took this morning, at the village kindergarten.

Emilía and Þoka
Þoka on Emilía, a lovely local girl, outside the village stables. She is a keen horsewoman and she was just leaving the stables when I walked by and asked her to model the hat for me. She kindly obliged - and changed her headband for the hat.

Life
I know it's probably the worst of clichés - but life does sometimes (read:very often) get in the way of my knitting. Or as it is now, in the way of my embroidery. I have a magazine assignment, I have promised by the end of this month, and I really must get started. But I really want to finish this gray hat I'm embroidering, and it's almost done, but not quite.
And now I have to go to a meeting, instead of embroidering away on my lovely hat. Ooops - it's starting in eight minutes (good thin I live in a small village where everything is close by. More later...

Steeking
As many of my regular readers know, I finished knitting my Olympic cardigan last Sunday, in time for the closing ceremony.
After that, it was like, all energy was gone from me - at least towards that project. So I didn't steek it until last night. As always I was a little apprehensive towards the steeking process - and as always (lately at least) pleasantly surprised at how easy it really was.
Steeking with lopi is a breeze. Lopi's tendency to stick together helps immensely.
So now all I have left is to sew all thirteen buttons in and block it. The I'm done.
And yes - it fits this time around...
